NCRTC unveils Solar on Track project at the Duhai depot

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has implemented a pilot project, namely ‘Solar on Track’ project at the Namo Bharat Depot in Duhai. Solar panels have been installed directly on the train tracks as part of the project. The installations of the pilot setup cover the pit wheel track and include the installation of 28 solar panels, each rated at 550 Wp. Together, these panels provide a total capacity of 15.4 kWp over a 70-metre stretch of track. Furthermore, the system is anticipated to generate around 17,500 kWh of electricity per annum.

In August 2025, NCRTC invited bids for setting up 110 MW ground-mounted solar projects, which will be set up under the captive mode in the state of  Uttar Pradesh.

NCRTC is a joint venture company of the Government of India and the States of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. It is mandated to implement the Namo Bharat project across the National Capital Region, ensuring a balanced and sustainable urban development through better connectivity and access.
