Envision Energy and Statera join forces for 1.36 GWh BESS

Envision Energy has partnered with Statera Energy to deliver a 680 MW/1,360 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) for the Carrington storage project in Greater Manchester in UK. The project, located at Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park, is expected to be energised by late 2026. Once operational, the project will be capable of providing electricity to approximately 2.2 million homes for up to two hours. It involves collaboration among several institutional stakeholders, including Lloyds, Statkraft, NatWest, Santander, Siemens Bank, SEB, and Mizuho, reflecting strong investor confidence.

Envision Energy will deploy its artificial intelligence-powered BESS designed for high renewable integration and long-term operational efficiency. The BESS projects, based on Envision’s large energy model, enable real-time monitoring of grid conditions and support grid-forming control under high renewable penetration. They operate through a closed-loop algorithm combining forecasting, dispatching, trading, and self-learning.

Earlier this month, Envision Energy signed a seven-year framework agreement with ACWA Power to collaborate on upcoming renewable energy projects in Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and the Central and Eastern Asian regions. The partnership aims to advance clean energy deployment and green hydrogen development across these markets.
