GAIL, GBA, and BSWML ink agreement for CBG plant in Bengaluru

GAIL India Limited (GAIL) has inked a tripartite concession agreement with the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) to develop a compressed bio-gas (CBG) plant. The plant will be situated at the KCDC area, Haralakunte Village, Bengaluru.

As part of the agreement, GBA will allocate 18 acres of land on a permissive use basis, while BSWML will provide 300 tonnes of segregated municipal solid waste per day. This waste will be processed to generate 12.6 tonnes of CBG per day. In addition, the plant is expected to generate approximately 22 tonnes of fermented organic manure each day. The agreement will be effective for 25 years from the date of commissioning of the project.

Earlier in August 2025, GAIL issued an engineering, procurement, and construction tender to set up a 17.5 MW (AC) grid-connected floating solar photovoltaic plant in Uttar Pradesh.

Furthermore, in May 2025,  GAIL revised the pricing methodology for biogas and CBG under the CBG-CGD synchronisation scheme.
