CC&L Infrastructure acquires stake in three wind projects in Ontario

CC&L Infrastructure has acquired a 49 per cent interest in three operating wind projects in southern Ontario, Canada, with a cumulative capacity of about 235 MW, from NextEra Energy Resources. The acquired portfolio consists of the Adelaide wind, Bornish wind, and Goshen wind projects, with capacities of approximately 60 MW, 73 MW, and 102 MW, respectively.

NextEra Energy Resources will retain a 51 per cent stake and continue to manage and operate the assets. CIBC Capital Markets acted as financial advisor, and Torys LLP acted as legal counsel for the transaction. All output from the projects is supplied under 20-year power purchase agreements with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).

Together, the projects produce energy equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 200,000 households in Ontario. Additionally, they contribute to local communities through property taxes and direct funding, alongside benefit agreements established with several Indigenous groups. Following this investment, CC&L Infrastructure’s renewable energy portfolio has expanded to about 2.4 GW, consisting of over 1.2 GW of wind assets across 10 projects.
