MNRE issues amendments to ALMM guidelines

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued amendments to the guidelines for the enlistment of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). MNRE has updated the rules for cases eligible for enlistment of co-branded products under ALMM. The first case concerns both the brand owner and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) enlisted in the ALMM and remains unchanged. The second case is a new addition, and covers a situation where the brand owner is not enlisted in the ALMM, but the OEM is enlisted as a solar PV module manufacturer in the ALMM.

Furthermore, MNRE has updated the validity of the enlistment of co-branded models. Under the updated guidelines, the validity of ALMM enlistment of co-branded models shall expire on the earliest of the four dates dates: four years from the date of enlistment, the date the co-branding agreement ends, the date of expiry of the OEM’s ALMM enlistment, or the date of expiry of the Brand Owner’s ALMM enlistment (if applicable). Earlier, the enlistment was valid for only two years from the date of enlistment.
