Imerys and Akuo have inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the supply of renewable electricity in US. The inked agreement will allow Akuo to construct a photovoltaic solar power plant. The solar plant will have an installed capacity of approximately 195 MW, including 57 MW dedicated to Imerys’ operations.
The plant is located in Coke County, Texas, and is capable of producing 153 GWh of electricity per year. Furthermore, the PPA is a 15 year agreement and will cover 30 per cent of Imerys’ operations annual electricity needs with renewable sources. The commissioning of the solar project is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
Earlier in December 2024, Akuo and MEAG secured the closing of the financing of the Margalha solar power plant in Alentejo, Portugal. The solar plant has an installed capacity of 147 MWp and will help avoid emissions of over 45,000 metric tonnes of carbon per year. The project is under construction.
