ACCIONA Energía has started commercial operations at the Forty Mile wind farm. The project has a capacity of 280 MW and is situated in Alberta, Canada. The wind farm features 49 Nordex turbines, each with a capacity of 5.7 MW and a tower height of 108 meters.
The project is expected to contribute over €85 million in property tax revenues over its lifetime. It has created over 200 direct jobs, and will maintain 25 full-time positions for ongoing operations and maintenance. Furthermore, the project will reduce carbon emissions by 6,00,000 metric tonnes per year.
Earlier in September 2024, ACCIONA Energía obtained the 280 MW Forty Mile wind from Renewable Energy Systems (RES) Canada. On behalf of ACCIONA Energía, RES continued to work on the project as the contractor for building the remaining portions of the plant.
