Nofar and Qcells ink agreement for BESS projects in Texas

Nofar USA (Nofar) and Qcells have inked an agreement for the development and construction of two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. These two projects will have a combined capacity of 350 MW and a 2 hour duration. The projects are Bracero Pecan with a capacity of 230 MW/460 MWh situated in Reeves County and Fairway with a capacity of 120 MW/240 MWh in Freestone County.

Furthermore, these projects were originated and developed by Qcells and are in the final stages of interconnection approvals. Qcell will support the development and deployment of the projects whereas Nofar will act as the sponsor and full owner. Additionally, Nofar plans to commence construction later in 2025 and is expected to bring the projects online in 2027.

Earlier in May 2024, Nofar and Sungrow inked a supply and service agreement for a BESS project. The project was said to be developed in Stendal, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany featuring the PowerTitan2.0, which is a liquid-cooled energy storage system. The capacity of the project is 116,5MW/230MWh.
