Verdagy to deploy 320 MW of electrolysers in Petron’s bio-refinery

Petron Scientech and Verdagyand have joined forces for Petron’s biorefinery project. As part of this, Petron Scientech will utilise 320 MW of Verdagy’s eDynamic electrolysers. These will produce over 45 kilo tons per annum (KTA) of green hydrogen for integration into its bio-refinery project. This project will support the production of SAF, renewable diesel, and e-methanol, achieving a carbon reduction of 500 KTA through green hydrogen alone.

Furthermore, upon combining with the bio-refinery, the project is expected to achieve a reduction of 2 million tonnes of carbon per year. Over its lifetime, this will result in a total carbon reduction of over 60 million tonnes. Additionally, the two companies are collaborating on multiple bio-refinery projects to produce SAF, e-methanol, bio-chemicals, and polymers. Verdagy opened its 1 GW electrolyser factory in Silicon Valley in 2024 and will use it to manufacture electrolysers for the projects.

Earlier in March 2024, Shell approved Verdagy’s eDynamic electrolysers and endorsed them as a supplier for its future green hydrogen projects. Verdagy collaborated with Shell to undergo a thorough safety review known as “HAZOP” and a comprehensive assessment of the design and technology development of their electrolysers.
