A 4.096 MWp floating solar power plant has been built for Amplus KN One Power in Awarpur, Maharashtra by Ciel & Terre India. The project comprises 10,856 air optim hydrelio floats, equipped with Jinko 550 Wp PV panels. The project consists two plants with capacities of 1.909 MWp in and 2.187 MWp in two different reservoirs. It is anchored using bank helical anchoring. The project covers 6.3 acres of a 10.8-acre water area and achieves approximately 60 per cent coverage.
The project faced anchoring issues due to proximity to the reservoir. Rocky terrain, hard soil conditions and hard and non-penetrable surfaces were a few of the other challenges.
By using floating solar technology, the project minimises land use and reduces environmental impact. The non-polluted water source and efficient design contribute to the overall sustainability of the project. This project will reduce up to 5,571.6 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year. Additionally, the power generated is used for captive consumption.
