Singareni Collieries floats bids for 2.5 MWh BESS at 28 MW solar project in Telangana

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has issued a request for proposals for 1 MW/ 2.5 MWh grid-connected battery energy storage system (BESS) at the 28 MW solar project in Mancherial district, Telangana. The project is estimated to cost Rs 50 million.

The scope of work encompasses design, engineering, supply, packaging, forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation, and testing. The winning bidder will also be responsible for operations and maintenance for a duration of ten years. The bidders are required to submit Rs 500,000 as an earnest money deposit. Within one month of receiving the letter of award, the developer is required to furnish Rs 50 billion as a performance bank guarantee. The bid submission deadline is June 18, 2024.

The primary goal of the BESS is to store the additional energy units (that exceed SCCL’s load requirement at any given time) from the solar project that are being delivered to the Telangana Transmission Corporation grid. At a designated time, the stored electricity is subsequently released onto the SCCL grid. SCCL retains the right to visit the manufacturer’s or SCCL’s location to examine the products that have been enquired about. A third party, like RITES, may also be hired by SCCL to carry out these inspections.
