HG Infra Engineering inks BESPA with GUVNL for 300 MW/600 MWh BESS

H.G. Choraniya Bess, a subsidiary of HG Infra Engineering, has inked a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for a 300 MW/600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The capacity was secured by HG Infra Engineering in GUVNL’s Phase VI auction for 500 MW/1,000 MWh of BESS in April 2025. Furthermore, the project will be developed on a build-own-operate basis.

The project completion duration is 24 months, and the total project cost is estimated to be around  Rs 6.70 billion. Additionally, the tariff is set at Rs  285,600 per MW, with a contract duration of 12 years. The BESS facilities will be made available to GUVNL for charging and discharging whenever required.

Earlier in November 2025, GUVNL invited bids for the procurement of power from 625 MW of solar projects without energy storage.

Furthermore, in September 2025, GUVNL issued a tender for the development of 250 MW grid-connected wind power projects under Phase X.
