Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadam Limited (RVUNL) has invited bids to set up a standalone 500 MW/2 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) under the viability gap funding (VGF) programme. The project will be set up in Rajasthan on a build-own-operate basis.
The scope of work of the selected bidders includes ensuring that the storage system is available to RVUNL for charging and discharging on demand, along with providing the BESS’s interconnection with the state transmission utility network and the construction of the bay. Furthermore, RVUNL will ink a battery energy storage purchase agreement with the chosen bidders for providing energy storage services. The last date for bid submission is September 23, 2025.
Earlier in July 2025, RVUNL issued a request for selection to set up 1,000 MW/2,000 MWh standalone BESS at six locations in Rajasthan.
