rPlus Energies has completed the acquisition of two solar-plus-storage projects in Ada County, Idaho. The two projects are the Blacks Creek energy center and the Bluebird solar project, with a cumulative capacity of 900 MW. The Blacks Creek energy center consists of 400 MW of solar capacity along with 200 MW of storage. This project, acquired from Qcells, is scheduled to begin operations in 2027.
The Bluebird solar project comprises 200 MW of solar capacity and 100 MW of storage. The project, acquired from Mission Clean Energy, is scheduled to be operational by 2028. Latham & Watkins LLP provided the legal advisory for the Blacks Creek energy center acquisition, while Dorsey & Whitney LLP provided the legal advisory for the Bluebird solar acquisition.
The acquisitions add to the company’s existing activities in Ada County. These include Pleasant Valley Solar 1, developed by rPlus and in which the company holds a minority stake, and Pleasant Valley Solar 2, a fully owned project currently under construction. Together, the four projects represent planned investments exceeding $1.4 billion and account for more than 1.2 GW of solar and storage capacity in the region.
In September 2025, rPlus Energies closed a tax equity financing commitment of about $100 million with Truist Bank for Pleasant Valley Solar 2, a 125 MWac solar project in Ada County, Idaho, representing an investment exceeding $175 million. The project will supply power to Idaho Power’s grid and support Meta’s energy requirements for its data centre in Kuna.
