RECPDCL floats tender to evacuate power from 2 GW PSP in Karnataka

REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL) has issued a tender to develop an intra-state transmission system (ISTS) for evacuating power from the proposed 2,000 MW pumped storage project (PSP) at the Sharavathi complex in Karnataka. The project spans multiple locations, including Sharavathi, Guttu, and Talaguppa. The bid submission deadline is May 15, 2026.

According to the tender guidelines, the project scope involves setting up a 400 kV switching station at Guttur, developing 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines using Quad Moose conductors, carrying out transformer augmentation at Talaguppa, and strengthening existing 400 kV and 220 kV transmission lines, along with underground cable conversion and related infrastructure. The project will be executed under a build, own, operate, and transfer model with a total concession period of 35 years, including operations and maintenance.

 To qualify, bidders must have developed infrastructure projects with a total capital expenditure of at least Rs 11.8 billion in the past five years, with each project valued at a minimum of Rs 2.37 billion. Additionally, bidders must demonstrate a minimum net worth of Rs 4.75 billion in any of the last three financial years preceding the bid deadline.

Furthermore, the bidders are required to provide an earnest money deposit of Rs 237.7 million along with a tender fee of Rs 500,000, while the selected bidder must submit a contract performance guarantee of Rs 594.3 million within 10 days of receiving the letter of intent. 

Earlier this month, RECPDCL also issued a tender for the development of ISTS to evacuate 2 GW of solar power at Ryapte, in Karnataka.
