Adani commissions 5 MW offgrid green hydrogen pilot plant in Gujarat

Adani Group has announced the commissioning of a 5 MW offgrid green hydrogen pilot plant in Kutch, Gujarat. The project, developed by Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), is reportedly India’s first offgrid green hydrogen pilot plant.

The plant operates entirely off-grid using solar power integrated with a battery energy storage system. It produces hydrogen through electrolysis, powered exclusively by renewable energy, without any dependence on the central electrical grid.

The pilot project features a fully automated, closed-loop electrolyser system that adjusts dynamically to real-time solar input, offering operational flexibility in handling variability in power supply. Furthermore, the project acts as a proof of concept for ANIL’s upcoming green hydrogen hub in Mundra, Gujarat.
