KREDL floats tender for solar-plus-storage project

Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) has issued a request for selection to set up a 250 MW solar power project integrated with a 1,100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). To be located at Ryapte village in Tumkur district in Karnataka, the project aims to supply peak power and enhance grid utilisation at the Pavagada solar park.

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work includes installation of the solar and BESS projects, acquiring the land on lease, and establishing connectivity with Karnataka Solar Power Development Corporation’s substation 6. The connectivity will extend from this substation to Pavagada solar park in Tumkur. The bidders must submit a money deposit of Rs 605.9 million. The developer will be responsible for interstate transmission arrangements. Furthermore, selected bidders must comply with the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers List-I and List-II. They must use solar modules warranted for 90 per cent peak output after 10 years and 80 per cent after 25 years. Each module must include a radio frequency identification tag, and all projects must install equipment to continuously monitor environmental and performance parameters including solar radiation, ambient temperature, wind speed, and generation data. The deadline for bid submission is July 5, 2025.

KREDL will lease out 1,000 acres of land for the solar and BESS projects under a land sub-lease agreement, covering Annadanapura and Reddivarahalli villages. The base lease rate is Rs 30,000 per acre annually, with a biennial escalation of five per cent. Moreover, only commercially established and operational technologies are permitted, with all solar components required to meet International Electrochemical or equivalent Bureau of Indian Standards.
