Zelestra inks 1 GWh BESS agreement with Sungrow for project in Chile

Sungrow has inked an agreement with Zelestra to provide battery storage technology for a battery energy storage system (BESS) project being delivered in Latin America. Under the agreement, Sungrow will provide its PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled BESS and its MV power conversion units for the BESS project with a storage capacity of 1 GWh.

The project forms part of the hybrid Aurora scheme in Tarapacá, Chile, which is currently under construction. The Aurora project also consists of a 220 MWdc solar plant that is supplied with Sungrow’s 1+X modular inverter. Aurora will generate approximately 600 GWh of renewable energy annually. The BESS units will commence delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025.

In March 2025, Zelestra inked a long-term power purchase agreement with Abastible for solar and storage project in Chile. Under this agreement, the companies will utilise a tailor-made energy solution that consists of a 220 MWdc solar PV plant and a 1 GWh battery energy storage system.
