Coal India inks MoU with AM Green to supply 4.5 GW of clean energy

Coal India Limited has entered into a non-binding MoU with AM Green to supply 4.5 GW of renewable energy, comprising both solar and wind power. To be developed across India, the clean power will be delivered in phases over several years. AM Green plans to integrate this renewable energy with pumped hydro storage systems to ensure continuous round-the-clock supply for its green molecules production processes for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia.

The renewable capacity includes an estimated 2.5 to 3 GW of solar power and 1.5 to 2 GW of wind power. The total cost of this project is estimated to be around Rs 250 billion. The agreement, if executed, would reportedly be the biggest supply deal for green hydrogen and ammonia production globally.

Earlier this month, Coal India Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly establish a 500 MW solar power project in Uttar Pradesh.
