ENGIE Brasil Energia has inked an agreement for the acquisition of two hydropower plants. These are the Santo Antônio do Jari hydropower plant situated in the states of Amapá and Pará and the Cachoeira Caldeirão hydropower plant in the state of Amapá. The transaction is valued at approximately R$2.9 billion out of which approximately R$2.3 billion is in equity and approximately R$671 thousand in net debt.
Furthermore, Santo Antônio do Jari hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 393 MW and commercial capacity of 211 MW. It began commercial operations in 2014. Cachoeira Caldeirão has an installed capacity of 219 MW and commercial capacity of 123 MW. It commenced commercial operations in 2016.
Additionally, the two hydropower plants will be integrated into the generator park which has a capacity of 113 GW. It consists of 115 plants out of which 11 are hydroelectric and the remaining 104, are fired from complementary sources such as biomass, SHPs, wind, and solar.
