Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V) fund, has commenced construction of the 240 MW/960 MWh Summerfield battery in Australia. This decision follows the financial investment decision made in September 2024. The project is situated in South Australia near existing transmission infrastructure.
Furthermore, Summerfield has entered into a 10-year offtake agreement with Origin Energy. This project will also support the South Australian Government’s target of achieving 100 per cent net renewable energy by 2027. It will do so by storing excess wind and solar power generated during the day for use during peak demand.
Earlier in January 2025, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) reached a final investment decision (FID) for two energy storage projects in Scotland. This investment decision is being made through CIP’s flagship fund, CI IV. These projects have a capacity of 500 MW/1,000 MWh each.
