IIT Madras and Australian universities to establish Australia-India Centre for Energy

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is collaborating with Australian universities to establish the Australia-India Centre for Energy (AICE) to work on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AICE seeks to strengthen cooperation in the field of energy between academic institutions, research organisations, and businesses from both nations.

The virtual centre will be launched in December 2022 during the two-day Energy Summit 2022 hosted by IIT Madras. IIT Madras and Deakin University in Australia will be coordinating among partners and external stakeholders in order to expand collaborations between government departments, funding agencies, and individual researchers in both countries.

Recently in November 2022, assessment of ‘CO2 Geological Storage Potential’ in India was launched under the aegis of NITI Aayog, NETRA NTPC and the National Centre of Excellence in Carbon Capture & Utilisation (NCoE-CCU) and IIT Bombay.
