Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has signed a MoU with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) to promote rooftop solar adoption in Odisha under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Under this partnership, TPREL will manage power distribution in Odisha through its four distribution companies—TPCODL, TPWODL, TPSODL, and TPNODL—operating under a public-private partnership model.
Odisha offers significant subsidies, including Rs 55,000 for 1 kWp systems, Rs 110,000 for 2 kWp systems, and Rs 138,000 for installations above 3 kWp, to encourage solar adoption among residential consumers.
The collaboration will focus on public awareness campaigns, training programs, and targeted initiatives to accelerate solar energy adoption. The programme will initially focus on key cities, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and Paradip, before expanding to other regions.
Earlier this month, OREDA announced a tender for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of 4 MW rooftop solar projects with integrated battery systems, with these projects being implemented across multiple locations in Odisha on a rate contract basis.
