Odisha has announced its Renewable Energy Policy 2022. The policy shall remain active till March 31, 2030. Large hydro, small hydro, ground mounted solar, rooftop solar, floating solar, canal top solar, biomass, energy storage, waste-to-energy, green hydrogen, green ammonia or any other renewable energy technology and pilot projects commissioned in the state shall be guided by the policy.
The policy offers numerous incentives like exemption of Re 0.50 per unit on electricity duty to captive open access consumers on consumption of energy from renewable energy projects setup inside the state. Also, energy storage projects based on any technology shall be exempted from payment of electricity duty on input energy at the rate of Re 0.50 per unit for a period of 15 years.
In addition, stamp duty on purchase or lease of land, land conversion charges and registration charges will not be applicable for the renewable energy projects. All projects are to be built using the ‘build- own- operate’ model.
