S.K. Mathu Sudhana, Chief Executive Officer, Inox Green Energy Services Limited

S.K. Mathu Sudhana is chief executive officer at Inox Green Energy Services Limited (IGESL), a part of the $9 billion INOX GFL Group. With a career spanning nearly two decades in the power sector, Sudhana began his journey at NTPC Limited as an executive trainee in the 29th ET batch at NTPC Ramagundam before joining NTPC Sipat. He then worked at Adani Power Limited’s Mundra supercritical power plant. Since 2016, he has been involved in the renewable energy sector, working on wind, solar and hybrid projects at companies such as Ostro Energy (Renew power), Softbank Energy and Blupine Energy (Actis, UK).

According to Mathu, “The Indian government’s vision of achieving 500 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030 and producing 5 million¬ tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030 has made the sector more vibrant by attracting large investments. Last year, wind and solar installations saw significant growth, encouraging original equipment manufacturers to introduce new technology innovations in 3x, 4x and 5x platforms for wind energy. In the first quarter of financial year 2025, 4.4 GW of renewable energy capacity was added.”

The biggest challenges will be associated with grid integration and evacuation of renewable power from large renewable energy rich states to non-renewable energy-states. Increased renewable energy penetration will create significant power demand and supply management challenges for both central and state grid operators. Hence, advanced planning for power generation is crucial for India’s growth and its vision of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. According to Mathu, a memorable assignment in his career is his current role with IGESL, where he has been instrumental in turning around the company’s performance, following a significant collapse in the wind industry. He is focused on improving the
company’s operational and financial performance, motivating employees, and enhancing relationships internal and
external stakeholders.

Mathu’s management style focuses on creating an organisation aligned with the company’s strategic goals by inspiring and motivating employees, and building a strong, resilient team that works together as one unit.

Mathu holds an MBA from IIM Lucknow and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Anna University, Chennai.
