CIP acquires 1 GWh Scatter Wash BESS in Arizona

CI V, the flagship fund of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has announced that it has acquired the 255 MW / 1,020 MWh Scatter Wash standalone battery energy storage (BESS) project from Strata Clean Energy in Phoenix, Arizona. The project began construction in early 2024 and is set to begin commercial operations in the first half of 2025.

Strata will continue to serve as the construction and asset manager for the project. In 2023, Strata Clean Energy secured a 20-year tolling agreement for the Scatter Wash project with Arizona Public Service (APS). Financing for the project was secured in February 2024 from a consortium of lenders, headed by J.P. Morgan and Nomura, with a tax equity investment from US Bancorp.

In August 2024, CIP through its Copenhagen Infrastructure IV (CI IV) fund, and its joint venture partner SSE Thermal completed the construction and commenced operations of the 60 MWe Slough Multifuel project.
