Hygreen Energy to invest $2.2 billion in Spanish green hydrogen projects

Hygreen Energy, along with its partners, has planned to invest more than $2.2 billion in green hydrogen initiatives in Andalusia, Spain. The plans include the development of new green hydrogen plants as well as a plant to produce electrolysers. Initially, the plant will focus on producing 5 MW electrolysers to support green hydrogen production.

In July 2024, the European Commission approved a Spanish scheme to bolster investments in renewable hydrogen production. Approved under the state aid Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework, the scheme is designed to support the establishment of hydrogen clusters or valleys that are integral to Spain’s transition to a greener economy.

Hygreen Energy is a global electrolyzer manufacturer, providing complete solutions for green hydrogen production. It currently  has an annual manufacturing capacity of 2 GW with plans to expand to 5 GW by 2025.
