Bihar issues tender for 10 MW floating solar project

Bihar State Power Generation Company has issued a request for proposals to develop a 10 MW grid-connected floating solar project. To be situated in the districts of Kaimur and Rohtas, over the reservoir of Durgawati dam, the project will be developed as a part of renewable energy service company model, on the basis of build, own, and operate.

According to the tender guidelines, the project scope involves establishing the floating solar system and the transmission network extending to the interconnection or delivery point. The technology utilised for the floating solar installation should be proven commercially viable and resilient enough to endure the elevated humidity levels and moisture exposure commonly encountered in such setups. The bidders are required to submit Rs 10 million as an earnest money deposit. Before signing the power purchase agreement (PPA), the developer is required to furnish Rs 2.5 million per MW as a performance bank guarantee.  The deadline for bid submission is April 25, 2024.

The bidder awarded the contract will have the responsibility of securing environmental clearances, approvals for water body usage, and registrations for labor. To be eligible, the bidders should have completed grid-connected solar power facilities with a total installed capacity of at least 5 MW, comprising at least one project with a capacity of 1 MW or higher. Furthermore, the developer and the state’s distribution entities, North Bihar Power Distribution Company and South Bihar Power Distribution Company will enter into a 25-year PPA.
