The Power Grid Corporation of India (Powergrid) has secured an order to evacuate energy from 20 GW, Phase III, Part C1 renewable energy zones in Rajasthan for the implementation of an inter-state transmission system project. The project will be created on the basis of a build, own, operate and, transfer model.
The scope of work under the project includes creation, operations and maintenance, including conducting survey activities, formulating detailed project reports, finances arrangement, project management, securing permits and clearances, land compensation handling, design monitoring, engineering, procurement, and construction services, together with erection, testing, and commissioning.
Powergrid will be responsible for the construction of 765 KV double-circuit transmission lines, with extension of relevant bays at existing substations in the state. Furthermore, it will be responsible for ensuring the substations are located within 1 km of the location’s radius. The company received the letter of award on September 11, 2023. The project is scheduled to commence operations within 18 months of power purchase agreement’s effective date.
In August 2023, Powergrid’s board approved an investment proposal of Rs 5.55 billion for a 85 MW solar power project in Nagda, Madhya Pradesh.
