SJVN inaugurates its 50 MW solar project

SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has inaugurated its 50 MW solar project. Located in the Sitalmari village in Barsola block under Dhekiajuli revenue sector in Sonitpur district of Assam, the estimated cost of the project is Rs 2.91 billion. In the initial year, the project is expected to produce 101 million units of renewable energy, and the total energy generation over 25 years is projected to be approximately 2,319 million units. The generated energy will be supplied to Assam Power Development Corporation Limited (APDCL) at a rate of Rs. 3.92 per unit.

APDCL floated the tender in February 2023 and SGEL received the letter of award for the project in August 2023. SGEL has been tasked with locating appropriate substations or grid substations and conducting an evacuation assessment study at its own expense to determine the project’s connectivity to the grid substation. The project will be developed under solar park category. The project is slated to be completed by March 2025.

Recently, in March 2024, SJVN Limited commenced operations at its 100 MW Raghanesda Solar Power Station situated in the Banaskatha district of Gujarat.

In February 2024, SGEL entered into a power usage agreement with Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited to deliver 300 MW of solar power to JKPCL from its 1 GW photovoltaic project currently under construction in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan.
