Ali Imran Naqvi, Chief Executive Officer, Gensol Engineering Limited

Ali Imran Naqvi is chief executive officer (CEO) at Gensol Engineering. He started his career in 2007 as a subeditor with the Indian Petro Group, an online power research company. In 2010, he moved to Gensol as an associate consultant. In his capacity as sales lead, he facilitated Gensol’s transformation into a turnkey solar EPC company, overseeing the successful execution of over 600 MW of solar projects across India. Before assuming charge as CEO at Gensol, he held various roles in the company, including VP (marketing), chief marketing officer and chief operating officer.

For Naqvi, the most exciting part of his current role is leading a passionate team, navigating the dynamic renewable energy landscape, engaging with global stakeholders and making a meaningful difference in the world. “It is a role that constantly challenges me, inspires me and fills me with a sense of purpose,” he remarks. The anticipated decrease in polysilicon prices presents both challenges and opportunities for the solar industry. On the one hand, it promises to lower the cost of solar modules, potentially making solar projects more financially attractive. On the other, the resulting market consolidation could pose risks to supply chain stability and necessitate strategic adjustments for solar EPC companies. “This scenario offers a cost advantage for solar module manufacturing in the short term, but necessitates careful monitoring of market consolidation and supply chain resilience,” he says. Recognising the potential for lower material costs, Gensol is optimising its procurement strategies to secure competitive pricing for steel, aluminium, zinc and copper, alongside solar modules.

Naqvi’s management style is grounded in servant leadership, compassionate leadership and Level 5 leadership, with a steadfast commitment to honesty, sincerity, empathy and integrity. These principles are the bedrock of his approach, emphasising service, understanding and humility, alongside the pursuit of excellence. “This management style not only propels our company forward but also nurtures a positive, impactful workplace culture, ensuring our long-term success and contribution to the industry and society,” says Naqvi.

Naqvi has an MBA with a specialisation in Power Managementfrom UPES. In his spare time, he enjoys engaging in activities that help him relax and rejuvenate. He is an avid reader and likes delving into books on various subjects, including business, technology and personal development. In his spare time, apart from indulging in physical activities, he volunteers for social causes and participates in charity events.
