SECI issues tender for 1.5 GW solar projects

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a tender to develop 1,500 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected solar projects (Tranche XIII).

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work under the project includes suitable land identification, installation, project ownership, and obtaining ISTS network or intra state transmission system connectivity (InSTS) and required approvals, to deliver energy to SECI. The bidders are required to submit Rs 928,000 as an earnest money deposit. The bid submission deadline is January 31, 2024.

The developer must be responsible for developing ISTS-connected solar projects, including transmission network till the delivery point. The developer has the option to situate the project in the state of the purchasing entity for STU interconnection. A bidder, encompassing with its parent, affiliate, or ultimate parent, or any group company, must submit a single bid that proposes a contracted capacity within the specified range between 50 MW and 750 MW, following the designated formats. The project bids must be quoted in multiples of 10 MW. The bidders have the liberty to select project locations, and the project design should enable interconnection with the ISTS or InSTS, adhering to regulations of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Recently, in December 2023, SECI announced results for its 1,000 MW ISTS-connected solar power projects, tranche XII. By quoting Rs 2.52 per kWh, Avaada Energy, Sprng Energy, ReNew have won 300 MW, 250 MW, and 300 MW, respectively. While Blupine Energy won 150 MW by quoting Rs 2.53 per kWh.

In the same month, SECI issued tenders for developing 1,350 MW ISTS-connected wind projects, tranche-XVI with a greenshoe option of additional 700 MW. The projects will be situated in Gujarat, Karnataka, and Rajasthan with a capacity of 1,000 MW, 250 MW, and 100 MW, with greenshoe option of 500 MW, 150 MW, and 50 MW, respectively.
