Praveen Golash: Assistant Vice President, Strategy, Avaada Group

Praveen Golash, assistant vice president, strategy, in the chair­man’s office at the Avaada Group, has over 17 years of experience across various domains of the energy sector. He has worked with diverse clients in India and abroad, including ministries in the Government of India, state governments, central and state PSUs, distribution companies, independent power producers, renewable energy generators, power distribution franchisees and financial institutions.

In the past, Golash has held key positions at McKinsey & Company and KPMG. In addition, he has served as head commercial, Riverside Utilities, a power distribution company in Odi­­­­sha, which operated as a distribution franchisee for four el­ec­trical divisions under the licensed area of the Central Elec­tricity Supply Utility.

Reflecting on his current experience at Avaada, Golash re­marks, “Avaada is a very entrepreneurial kind of organisation that provides ample autonomy to explore and test new ideas and initiatives. I have been fortunate to be a part of the growth journey, particularly in new businesses.”

According to Golash, the company is actively involved in providing renewable energy solutions to power distribution co­mpanies, and commercial and industrial consumers. “We are responsive to customer needs and now also offer round-the-clock renewable energy solutions. In addition, we have ventured into emerging areas such as solar PV manufacturing, green hydrogen and pumped hydro, providing solutions in new areas,” he adds.

Discussing his management style, Golash emphasises the importance of contributing one’s 100 per cent potential and being self-motivated, in alignment with the larger purpose of the organisation. He strives to present the bigger picture to the team, helping them understand their role. Apart from this, he values being ap­proachable, fostering a comfortable environment for the team.

Golash considers himself fortunate to be part of India’s en­ergy transition journey and aspires to make a meaningful contribution to the global fight against climate change. He hol­ds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from MITS Gwa­lior along with an MBA in power management from NPTI, Fari­dabad. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading novels and watching movies.
