Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has issued a request for proposals (RfPs) to select developers for development of 250 MW/500 MWh (250 MW x 2 hours) standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) for on demand use. Located in Gujarat, the project will be set up on the basis of build, own, and operate model.
According to the tender guidelines, the bidders are required to furnish Rs 740,000 per MW as an earnest money deposit. Before signing a battery energy storage project agreement (BESPA), the developers are required to submit Rs 1,850,000 per MW as a performance bank guarantee. Furthermore, the developer must be responsible for maintaining transmission system and bearing project’s overall infrastructure construction expenses till the interconnection point. The project should be completed within 18 months of BESPA being signed.
In November 2023, GUVNL issued RfPs for development of 500 MW grid-connected solar projects under phase XXII across India, with an additional 500 MW green-shoe option. In August 2023, Mahindra Susten announced the signing of a 25-year purchase power agreement with GUVNL for 100 MW solar project at a tariff of Rs 2.72 per kWh.
