SECI appoints rooftop solar installers for 50 MW capacity

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has revealed a list of engineering, procurement, and construction contractors for 50 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems across government buildings in several states. The projects will be implemented under the renewable energy service company model. According to SECI, the solar modules for the project must be purchased from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).SECI allocated 16.48 MW of the whole 50 MW capacity. GRE Electronics received 2.5 MW for the Zone I states, Shimato Enterprises bagged 1 MW, and HFM Solar won 2 MW.

Oriana Power and Subhash Infraengineers both are allotted 3 MW in Zone III, quoting tariffs of Rs 4.42 per kWh. Oriana Power got 2.98 MW in Zone IV. Alien Energy and Subhash Infrengineers both received 1 MW. All three bids quoted the same L1 rate of Rs 5.25 per kWh.

The tender was released in September 2022. The projected commissioning date for projects in Zones I and III is nine months from the effective date of the power purchasing agreement (PPA). The commission date for projects in Zone IV will be 12 months from the effective date of the PPA. Zone II capacity is currently being allocated.

In May 2023, SECI awarded 1.2 GW of hybrid wind-solar projects with energy storage for guaranteed peak power supply. As per the notification, AMP Energy Green won capacity for 100 MW at tariff of Rs 4.64 per kWh. On the other hand, ReNew Vikram Shakti was awarded a bid capacity of 600 MW for Rs 4.69 per kWh. Hero Solar Energy received 120 MW for Rs 4.72 per kWh and ACME Cleantech Solutions received 380 MW for Rs 4.73 per kWh.
