Jio-bp introduces E20 blended petrol

Jio-bp, a joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and bp for fuels and mobility has announced the initial rollout of E20 gasoline. In accordance with the Government’s roadmap, Jio-bp has become one of the first fuel retailers in India to offer E20 blended gasoline. Customers with E20 petrol compatible vehicles will be able to choose this fuel at select Jio-bp outlets and the service will be expanded across the network in the near future.

The E20 fuel is a twenty per cent ethanol blend with eighty per cent fossil-based fuel. The Government of India is introducing E20 blending in petrol in the country with the goal of lowering the country’s oil import costs, increasing energy security, lowering carbon emissions, improving air quality, increasing self-reliance, using damaged food grains, increasing farmers’ incomes, creating jobs, and expanding investment opportunities. Furthermore, the government has moved the E20 fuel target from 2030 to 2025.

In October 2022, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Jio-bp expanded their existing collaboration. Jio-bp will be establishing a charging network for M&M’s upcoming e-SUV launches. Also, Jio-bp will install DC fast chargers across M&M dealership networks and workshops across the country starting off with 16 cities.
