ABB launched a 350 kW plug-in electric vehicle (EV) charger at the Hannover Messe 2018 show. It is the highest power EV charger in the world. In comparison, a Tesla Supercharger’s output is around 120kW and a normal fast charger’s output is around 50 kW.
Reportedly, the new plug-in EV charger, known as the Terra High Power charger, is capable of adding up to 200 km of range to an EV in just about eight minutes provided the EV is equipped to handle such a charge without overheating and accompanying battery degradation.
ABB plans to deploy the new EV charger along highway rest stops, especially in the busy parts of the world’s roadway systems.
