Columbia approves resolution to regulate distributed solar energy

Colombia’s Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) has approved Resolution CREG 030, 2018, which regulates solar distributed generation (up to 100 kW) and distributed generation from renewable sources (between 100 kW and 1 MW). The new rules define a simple mechanism for residential, commercial and small industrial power consumers intending to produce energy mainly to meet their own needs and willing to sell the surplus to the interconnected system. A simplified procedure has also been introduced for connecting large-scale self-consumption facilities with installed power greater than 1 MW and less than or equal to 5 MW.
