PM Green, a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Mech Projects Limited, has secured a contract to develop a 250 MW/1,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in West Bengal. The project has been secured from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited on a build-own-operate basis.
The contract also includes a greenshoe option of an additional 250 MW/1,000 MWh at the Durgapur Project Limited campus in Durgapur, West Bengal. The total project cost, including the greenshoe capacity, is approximately Rs 31.26 billion.
According to specifications of the contract, the scope of work includes design, financing, engineering, procurement, and construction of the BESS facility. It also covers providing 15 year operations and maintenance services with a provision for extension of up to five additional years from the scheduled commissioning date. Furthermore, the project is anticipated to be commissioned within 18 months of the inking of the battery energy storage purchase agreement.
