Pace Digitek has commissioned a battery energy storage systems (BESS) manufacturing facility, through its subsidiary Lineage Power Private Limited. The facility is located in the Bidadi industrial area in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
The facility has an annual production capacity of 2.5 GWh, extendable to 5 GWh, and is intended to support storage for solar and wind energy. It will feature a fully automated cell-to-pack assembly line. The BESS units will enable energy to be stored when generation exceeds demand and dispatched during peak or off-peak hours. These systems are applicable across residential, commercial, and utility-scale settings and operate on a two-cycle charge-discharge basis.
At the inauguration, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy also announced an additional Rs 54 billion in viability gap funding for 30 GWh of BESS capacity. This is in addition to the existing Rs 37 billion already allocated, which has supported 13.2 GWh of projects so far.
