CTUIL revokes grid connectivity for 6.3 GW renewable projects

The Central Transmission Utility of India (CTUIL) has revoked the grid connectivity of 24 renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 6,343 MW since 2022. The grid connectivity was scrapped due to delays by the developers.

The states in which grid connectivity for projects was revoked and the revoked capacities are as follows:  Gujarat (2,871 MW), Karnataka (1,500 MW), Maharashtra (1,090 MW), Rajasthan (850 MW), and Tamil Nadu (32 MW).  Furthermore, there are 16 pending petitions with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission filed by power generators that are seeking protection against the scrapping of grid connectivity.

Earlier this month, CTUIL released a draft procedure outlining how entities must obtain approval for any change in control of grid connectivity grantees before their renewable energy projects begin commercial operations.
