Foulath Holding and Yellow Door Energy join forces for solar project in Bahrain

Foulath Holding, the parent company of Bahrain Steel and SULB, has partnered with Yellow Door Energy to develop a 123 MWp solar project in Bahrain. As per the agreement, Yellow Door Energy will be responsible for financing, designing, constructing, commissioning, operating, and maintaining the project throughout the power purchase agreement period. The project will include ten rooftop solar plants and four ground-mounted solar installations. Cumulatively, the project will comprise more than 189,900 panels deployed over an area of 707,000 square metres.

Furthermore, the project is projected to generate around 200 million kWh of clean energy in its first year of operation, leading to a reduction of approximately 90,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions. The project will include a single-site rooftop solar plant with a capacity of 50 MWp. This rooftop plant will comprise 77,000 solar panels, installed across a 262,000 square metre stockyard shed. Moreover, the project aligns with Bahrain’s Vision 2030, its Net Zero 2060 commitment, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In August 2025, the Electricity and Water Authority of Bahrain announced the launch of the country’s first solar power project with a planned capacity of up to 150 MW, to be developed in collaboration with the private sector. The project will be located in the southern region of the country near Bilaj Al Jazayer, covering around 1.2 square km, and is expected to begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2027.
