Germany’s Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the onshore wind auction that closed on August 1, 2025. The tendered capacity was 3,443 MW, with the auction being oversubscribed and receiving bids with a total capacity of 5,739 MW. The total number of bids received was 604 bids, of which 376 bids with a combined capacity of 3,448 MW were awarded.
Furthermore, 25 bids were excluded from the process. The successful bid prices in the pay-as-bid process ranged from €0.0639 per kWh to €0.0664 per kWh. The average volume-weighted award price stood at €0.0657 per kWh, which was lower than the previous round’s €0.0683 per kWh and remained well below the ceiling price of €0.0735 per kWh.
North Rhine-Westphalia secured the largest share of awarded capacity in the auction, totalling 817 MW secured from 105 awarded bids. This was followed by Lower Saxony with an awarded capacity of 800 MW from 73 awarded bids, and Brandenburg with an awarded capacity of 609 MW from 89 awarded bids.
In August 2025, the Federal Network Agency announced the results of the July 1, 2025 auction for 2,266 MW of ground-mounted and non-building solar projects, which was oversubscribed with bids totaling 2,820 MW. A total of 258 bids totalling a capacity of 2,271 MW were awarded, with winning tariffs ranging from €0.04 per kWh to €0.0626 per kWh.
