Voltalia sells 420 MW solar project to Newave Energia

Voltalia, a French renewable energy firm, has a divested 420 MW Brazilian solar plant to Newave Energia. The amount involved is not disclosed. The solar plant will be situated in the southeast Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Additionally, the development, management, and maintenance of the solar plant will be assisted by Voltalia.

Reportedly, the undertaking is a component of the bigger Arinos cluster, which has the capacity to produce 1.8 GW of sustainable energy. Other solar projects in the cluster that are scheduled to be built have also been purchased by Newave Energia. Furthermore, the solar portfolio will prevent 350,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year while producing enough renewable energy to sustain the requirements of 1.3 million people.

In December 2022, Voltalia was chosen as the successful bidder to develop the 123 MW solar project in Uzbekistan. In July 2022, Voltalia participated in the auction, which was funded by the World Bank through the IFC Scaling Solar Program. The Uch-Uchak solar project had to be built in the western Uzbek province of Khorezm, near the Turkmen border.
