Vietnam is planning to switch from the feed-in tariff regime to an auction-based mechanism to support utility-scale solar deployment. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued a notification to this end and procurement exercises will begin from 2020. However, the ministry may still grant FiT contracts to projects that are expected to come online in 2020 and to rooftop solar projects.
