Haryana approves petition for procuring power from non-solar sources to fulfil RPO

The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has approved a petition filed by the Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), Panchkula to procure power from green energy sources other than solar with to fulfil the renewable purchase obligation (RPO).

In the petition HPPC mentioned that there could be a shortfall of 1,248 million units (MUs) to fulfil the non-solar RPO targets fixed by HERC. To meet the targets, HPPC conducted an e-reverse auction based competitive bidding under a short-term arrangement for procuring the required renewable power from May 1, 2018, to October 31, 2018. PTC India Limited and Tata Power Trading Company were selected as the electricity providers.

HERC noted that the tariff discovered by HPPC was determined through a transparent bidding process which was in accordance with the guidelines issued by the central government and thus HPPC’s petition was approved.
