Atlas Renewable Energy inks solar PPA in Colombia

Atlas Renewable Energy has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with an unnamed Colombian energy trading company to support the development of the El Campano solar project in Colombia’s northern region. The solar plant is planned with an installed capacity of 128 MWp and is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2027. It was awarded under Colombia’s 2024 Reliability Charge Auction.

Under the PPA, the project is expected to deliver around 245 GWh of renewable electricity annually to the national grid. This level of generation is equivalent to the yearly electricity consumption of more than 110,000 households in Colombia. Moreover, it is projected to reduce approximately 38,200 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Furthermore, the project reportedly represents the second project after the Shangri-La project by Atlas Renewable Energy in Colombia, and forms part of the company’s strategy to reach 1,000 MW of installed renewable capacity in the country.

In December 2025, Atlas Renewable energy along with ArcelorMittal completed part B of the Luiz Carlos solar plant 90 days ahead of schedule. The 315 MWp solar plant is located in Paracatu, in northwestern Minas Gerais, Brazil and has received investments of R$895 million. It is expected to generate an average of 74 MW of clean energy annually.
