Tanya Singhal: Founder, Mynzo Carbon and SolarArise

With over 15 years of experience, Tanya Singhal is an entrepreneur and industry leader in the climate technology and renewable energy sectors. Singhal founded and successfully sold SolarArise, with its assets now listed as a part of a trust on the London Stock Exchange. “I worked towards turning my vision into reality, and within 10 years, I successfully raised and deployed over Rs 20 billion to build seven solar plants, totalling around half a GW at sub-coal power prices. Continuing my passion for advancing carbon neutrality, I am building Mynzo (MyNetZero) – focusing on climate consciousness through technology and AI,” says Singhal.

The most exciting part of Mynzo for Singhal is leveraging technology to efficiently measure individuals’ carbon emissions. “Mynzo ensures that we discuss our impacts on the climate, not just at special events like COP, but also in our day-to-day life. I am also very excited about ‘My Forests’, an opportunity for corporates and individuals to own their assets (not offsets) and maintain a clean balance sheet by absorbing daily carbon emissions and reaching net zero,” she says.

Over the years, solar power has evolved to become a crucial component in the energy sector, ready to take fossil fuels head-on, given that solar power is now cheaper than coal. She adds, “I believe that the market will continue to evolve, driven by technological advancements, cost optimisation, favourable government policies and storage innovations, enabling round-the-clock clean power. This is when solar will become a true superpower: accessible at low-cost, abundant and clean.”

Singhal’s management style strikes a balance between empathy and firmness, recognising their importance in fostering a productive and supportive work environment. “I believe in cultivating empathy and compassion, and understanding the individual needs and challenges of my team members,”she adds.

Singhal began her career as a strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group and holds a BTech degree from IIT Delhi, and the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. Her goal is to weave climate consciousness into everyday conversations, driving awareness and enabling subtle yet impactful steps towards sustainability without disrupting lifestyles.

Singhal prioritises health and fitness, with passions including Hindi classical music, ukulele playing, cross-fit, long-distance cycling and advanced scuba diving.
