Clearway Energy Group has closed financing and started construction of the 650 MW Swan Energy Center in Bates County, Missouri. The project is backed by a 20-year power purchase agreement and is expected to begin commercial operations in 2028.
Furthermore, the project is expected to provide more than $80 million in new revenue to Bates County over 30 years through a Payment in Lieu of Taxes agreement. Clearway will provide $1 million this year for emergency equipment, $288,000 annually for the first 10 years to support local road and bridge departments, and $200,000 for public safety equipment in Amoret and Amsterdam.
Clearway secured financing for the $1.5 billion project through a bank consortium led by Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, DNB Bank ASA, and National Australia Bank Limited. Clearway Energy, Inc. will invest in the project once it begins commercial operations.
