Reliance announces Rs 1 trillion investment for CBG projects in Andhra Pradesh

Reliance Industries has announced plans to invest Rs 1,000 billion for the development of compressed biogas (CBG) plants in Andhra Pradesh. The projects are expected to create over 300,000 employment opportunities and reportedly generate nearly Rs 600 billion in revenue for the state.

The projects will use agricultural residue, animal dung, food waste, and other organic materials to produce clean fuel. The initiative aims to link agricultural activities with Reliance’s green energy business by enabling farmers to contribute to energy production.

Earlier, in March 2026, Reliance Industries Limited inked a long-term supply and purchase agreement with Samsung C&T Corporation, South Korea. The agreement covers the supply of green ammonia for a period of 15 years, beginning in the second half of the financial year 2029. The agreement, valued at over $3 billion, is reportedly one of the largest binding long-term green ammonia off-take agreements globally.
